Find your perfect running peeps!

Have you ever joined a running group only to realize they’re not in it for the fun? I’m a runner, but I’m a relaxed runner. It’s okay to stop for a bathroom break, stretch, or walk for a minute or two. Running with friends is awesome, but only if you find the right people for your style. Today, we’re diving into how to find your perfect running buddies.

Why Bother?

Why can’t I just go solo? Going solo isn’t bad, but running with people who match your style is amazing. The miles fly by when you’re catching up with someone. Yes, I talk while running because I’m not sprinting. Those intense workouts I do solo or at a track, so you can still be with your group but go at your own pace. But for those long, slow, distance (LSD) runs, it’s always great to have running buddies. I’ve logged thousands of miles with some great people, and those are some of my best memories

Lookin’ for The One (or Many)

1. Similar Pace & Goals

It’s like dating, but sweatier. Make sure your potential running pals are on the same page—whether it’s prepping for a 5k or just a leisurely jog.

2. Schedule Sync

Are you a crack-of-dawn sprinter or a midnight miler? Make sure your running schedules jive, or else it’s a no-go.

3. Accountability

Your peeps should have your back when you’re not feeling it. Plus, the right crew will totally guilt you into lacing up those running shoes.

4. Good Vibes

Don’t underestimate the power of a good playlist, some witty banter, or simply running in silence. Your crew should vibe with your style.

5. Safety First!

Yep, two pairs of eyes are better than one when it comes to that sketchy trail.

Where to Scout ‘em

1. Local Clubs or Running Stores

Yep, these places aren’t just for scoring new kicks. Many host group runs!

2. The Almighty Facebook Groups

There’s literally a group for every type of runner. Just don’t get lost in the memes.

3. Community Boards

Old school, but gold!

4. Ask Around

Your neighbor’s sister’s best friend could be your running soulmate.

5. There’s an App for That

Tech-savvy? Find a running mate just a swipe away.

The Test Drive

Before you commit to a running rendezvous, go for a “trial run” to feel out the vibe and see if the shoe fits. 😉

Keepin’ It Fresh

Life happens, you miss a run, it’s okay! The 80/20 rule ain’t just for eating your veggies; it applies to running, too. Your crew should get it when you need a break.

Final Lap

Finding the perfect running buddies isn’t just about hitting your fitness goals—it’s about enriching your life with some good times and good vibes.
